Foreigner

Holy hell muffins! GARAGE SALES! They may be the essence of raw treasures that were taken from the land of peter pan. Garage sales.. aka peter pan awesomeness.. are the reason why I have just been able to buy about seven records for one dollar. THEY are the reason that I am the proud owner of a foreigner record. and finalllyism they are the reason that this amazing mood board/compiltation of stuff I think is cool came to be.

These lovely rings are from a garage sale a couple years ago. I am trying really hard to describe how I feel about them but the common phrase, "OOH they are so pretty!" doesn't sound mature enough (but they really are pretty). There are the sort of thing that put a subplot esque layer atop many of my outfits. In this particular situation I feel like if they were a little bit rusted and or breaking they may be more able to speak up and say, "We are the bringers of bad news. Little girls dont stay little forever. They die." Which sounds really morbid but for some reason it is the slightly overly cheerful and therefore creepy feeling I get from them and plus they are sparkly and pink.
I find that when things get really exciting or I get overly inspired I start rambling. In a way it is unfortunate that the conversation on a blog is one sided because there is no one to shut me up. My sister and I both have a strange love for cameos. There is something about the often slightly translucent ivory faces (which by the way is the colour of my foundation - i definately am not that pasty [!]) and the texture is so smooth yet somehow gives the illusion of a masked beast who wants to be beautiful. Like in Doctor Who when the repair robots are trying to fix the ship and they need a human to do it so they wear masks to look less scary.

The is the over all picture. Foreigner Record (garage sake) busted hair clip (my sister) candle (I have no clue) cameo (garage sale) celtic cross (BC Ferries) lipstick (gram's) zebra (christmas present - fair trade) string... (does it really matter where is got the string?)

The inspiration of this who collage was the record which gave me a 70/80's vibe so I tried to mix the two era's together. the candle seemed to be a representation of angsty teenage girls burning pictures of ex boyfriends. The cross has little celtic knots in it and gave me the feeling of an old family heirloom which has been past down but no one really knows what is so important about it anymore.. it is just special. The cameo just seemed to fit and that is all I can say about it. The lipstick is sickly pink and was like... a girls first time putting on lipstick to impress a boy and it is like a 70's colour that very few people wear these days ;) and finally there is the zebra which is kind of sketchy but still cut which says to me that girls grow up but when they are in that angsty teenage faze they still want to hug their teddy bear when it is scary at night.

That is my last post today
